HSE shares CROME technology with European Spallation Source, ESS

ESS visit

Recently, two members of HSE personnel took a trip to Lund, Sweden, to set up CERN-developed CROME radiation monitors that were delivered to the European Spallation Source, ESS, in the context of a collaboration agreement between the two laboratories.

Hamza Boukabache, CROME project leader, and Daniel Perrin, RP instrumentation section leader, performed the initial set-up of two CROME systems in the ESS’s Radiological and Environmental Monitoring System workshop. While in Lund, they also delivered a seminar on the reliability assessment and performances characterisation of the CROME system for ESS personnel in charge of radiation protection, safety, integrated control system, accelerators, security and quality.

CROME is a technology developed by HSE with significant application potential wherever high-performance and highly reliable radiation monitoring is required.
