Mechanical Safety
Team leader: Simon Marsh
HSE supports CERN Departments, projects, and experiments on safety matters related to pressure equipment, cryogenic equipment, lifting equipment, lifts, and automatic doors.
Main activities
Pressure equipment and cryogenic equipment:
- Consultancy and support to matters of safety and compliance for pressure equipment and cryogenic equipment, including the definition and interpretation of applicable rules
- Provision of inspection and testing of pressure equipment and safety accessories, including initial and periodic inspections, in line with the requirements and periodicities stated in the CERN Safety Rules
- Provision of the oversight of pressure testing (in-situ and in HSE bunker testing)
Lifting equipment, lifts and automatic doors
- Consultancy and support to matters of safety and compliance for lifting equipment, including the definition and interpretation of applicable rules
- Provision of inspection and testing of lifting equipment, lifts, and automatic doors, including initial and periodic inspections, in line with the requirements and periodicities stated in the CERN Safety Rules
